I spend a lot of time watching pole dancing videos and shopping for booty shorts. These are my stories.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Amazingly beautiful
if I see more photos like this, and I might try and get back into pole :-)
Poled a bit last night. It’s really hard to get motivated to work your way back up to moves you used to do as a warmup. Proper fan kicks never seemed so taxing. Good to feel sore today though. I think I need to plan a beach trip to get motivated. I was 20lbs lighter this time last year! Hmm. Realistically, the goal should be a beach trip next year…
So smiley!
These are all reasonable to me unfortunately. Looking forward to warmer weather…not because of running (I like it 50 degrees or colder =P) but so the pole doesn’t take so dang long to warm up and my skin isn’t as dry ‘cuz the few times I have poled my legs couldn’t grip no matter how hard I tried.
Also I try to walk to a different metro station (for Ingress farming) in the morning…walking a mile when I wouldn’t have otherwise has got to count for something. Right?? Or is losing running down the 195 foot escalator another hit?
I think I am going to get on board with the whole Handstand February thing. I did one on the first but not the 2nd or 3rd, but I’ll try to be more consistent!
I held this for like, a second before losing balance. Need to learn to tuck my hips. Here’s to hoping February will help me improve!
I can only hope i get my handstands this awesome one day! I still do mine against the wall!
What’s handstand February? I’m down!
So this is what happens when you go on an Ingress-motivated run/walk/hack/attack. I mill about for about 5-10 minutes at a time trying to get in range of a portal and take it over and maybe wait for the 5 minute cool down to hack them a second time.
You guys heard of Ingress? I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned it yet. It gets me out for more walks than Fitocracy or Gym-pact ever could. (And when logged through Runkeeper, it can count for both! I keep forgetting to claim them on Fitocracy though.)
Ingress is an Android game/app/AUGMENTED REALITY made by Google under the name Niantic Labs. It’s in beta, so it’s invite only. But the invites are rolling out pretty fast these days so go to the Ingress page to sign up for one. Hmm…how to sum it up for the uninitiated…When people explain it to the cops and security guards who flag them down because they’re suspiciously lurking around a spot late at night for no reason we usually say “it’s a GPS-based game by Google” or “it’s kind of like geocaching” or “virtual capture the flag”. I can’t believe people actually liken it to geocaching, only because I didn’t think that was a well known thing. Usually we stick to the keywords “Google” and “phone game” to not get arrested.
Anyway, it’d take a long nerdy time to explain, but you choose a side (Resistance or Englightened) and go around the real world where there are “portals” based on your GPS. Post offices, historic landmarks, and other stuff. You hack them (well we don’t say “hack” to the authorities), attack them, capture them and more…it’s a good time.
Other than the consequence of more walking, it also takes me by the supermarket nearest me (which I dislike going to otherwise since it’s overpriced and old and sad and I can’t reach anything on the shelves) and I can’t complain about not having fruit anymore. It’s a team-based game, so you’d do best to meet up with internet people IRL. Which I’m not a fan of. I’m probably going to have to soon, just so I can know who else is playing around me instead of looking suspiciously around trying to figure it out and then someone saying hi to me in the in-game chat and then running off all embarassed with my groceries. But I’m level 5 and gonna get to 6 soon without meeting up with peeps so maybe I’ll make it on my own after all. (Current level cap, 8!)
but in the middle of this week, sandwiched between days of ice and snow was a 70 degree day. worked on some pole and remembered how hard it is when you haven’t in a long time. maybe all I need to get back into pole is spring so I don’t have to spend so much time getting and keeping the pole warm. =P
I’m sore from a run yesterday, and so I literally feel in my bones that I think I’m ready to get back into general fitness-ing. =P
pole pics are a-comin’ once I figure out a new pic taking solution. the laptop webcam method is more annoying than is worth the grainy pics that may or may not result. even though any pics I post for a while will just be shaking cobwebs off of old tricks (gemini, basic plank?…), I think I need a bit of that corny loving my body mentality back. what better than the shock of seeing your skin on the internetz?!
ready to get back into it
I love how this pictures sums up so much about pole so simply. There is a place in pole for everyone :)
Which one are you?
(I am definitely the kind of girl on the far right!)
A pic is worth more than a thousand words.
Yup!!
I’m the one on the far left :-)
So in trying to reinvent myself, and by that I mean getting back to the person I was 2 years ago when I was happy with myself, I went to the gym today! I hadn’t been to the gym in my office that I had been paying for in so long, they had to give me a new barcode. I took a step aerobics class that includes some weight training. One of the first classes I’d ever taken. NOSTALGIA.
I don’t know why I still have this gym membership. The little exercise I’ve done this year, I’ve done just fine without a gym. There’s Outside. There’s The Pole. There’s Insanity. There’s Tae Kwon Do. And there’s other various implements and weights I own. But I guess there’s nothing like getting yelled at to do another 10 reps of something you really wouldn’t want to do. I’ll stick with it for now.
Or until I end up doing parkour or silks. Which isn’t a totally random thing. I already bought a month membership to Urban Evolution. Maybe I’ll take breakdancing too. It’s a 30 day trial thing from my first class, so I want to wait until after all of these dead holidays I wouldn’t be able to take classes on, but I don’t wanna get stuck in some new years resolutioner’s rush! ‘Cuz a real membership is really expensive! I want my groupon’s worth.
